Blood Orange Cupcakes with Rose Buttercream Frosting


For Batter
1 1/2 cups, flour
1 teaspoon, baking powder
1 teaspoon, baking soda
1/2 teaspoon, salt
2 eggs
3/4 cup, sugar
1 teaspoon, vanilla
1/2 cup, il Fustino Blood Orange Olive Oil
1/2 cup, buttermilk
For Frosting
3 cups, powdered sugar
1/2 cup, salted butter - softened
1 teaspoon, rose water
3 tablespoons, buttermilk
4 drops, food coloring - optional


  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees Farenheit
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl, set aside.
  3. In another bowl whisk eggs and sugar, until combined.
  4. Mix vanilla, il Fustino Blood Orange Olive Oil and buttermilk into the egg/sugar mixture.
  5. Slowly pour mixture into the dry ingredients.
  6. Once combined pour into a lined cupcake pan.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  8. While cupcakes are cooling, mix the rose frosting.
  9. With a hand mixer combine half of the powdered sugar with 1 tablespoon of the buttermilk. Once evenly mixed slowly add in the rest of the powdered sugar and buttermilk.
  10. Put frosting into a piping bag and frost cupcakes!
  11. Enjoy!
